Infant gas?

My little boy (8 months) has an unbelievable amount of infant gas. I give him Mylicon and gripe water regularly, but it only helps sometimes. Mostly, he's not bothered by the gas and it doesn't seem to hurt him, but sometimes you can tell that his little tummy is really uncomfortable. I give him cereal for breakfast, homemade fruit puree for lunch, and dinner is usually a jar meal like turkey & spinach or chicken noodle dinner. Otherwise, he drinks hypo-allergenic formula and lots of water during the day, and I use Avent bottles. Any suggestions, or is this just normal?
