Why is it that we still refer to people who are only half black as "Black"?

I don't... I refer to them as 'mixed race' because that's what they are! It's usually the individual themselves who decide to ignore the half of them that is white... perhaps because they hate white people!?? If I was mixed race, I'd want to know about both/all the races that make me... me!!
