If you are demoted to e1 from e2 how long does it take to get your rank back?

I have been in the army for a year now..i got flagged in feb 2010 for being awol..i know i screwed up..i did not get my article 15 until just a few weeks ago june 3 2010. all that happen to me was they knocked me down to e1 from e2 and half months pay for 2 months. I got transfered to another unit for a med bord..i will be there at least 8 months..i need to know how long it will take (being i dont screw up) which i wont..to go back to e2? please help
