How does it work when I edit my answer, what does the....[see details] ?

If they are viewing the page/your answer at the time of your edit, they will not read the edited version unless they refresh the page. They may in fact leave the page and come back later. At that time, if they thought to re-read your answer, they may notice that it has been edited.
