Does anyone REALLY know the difference between progressive lenses???

I have had 5 different progressive lenses with no luck except for Varilux. The optometrist suggested I stay with them since they are the top of the line in progressive lenses. The last time I had my prescription changed was about 5 years ago. Is the price witn Varilux and any other progressive lense about the same or is Varilux much more expensive? My eye care insurance only covers up to a certain portion so it's important for the price, but I really need to see without getting headaches....anyone have the answer? Thank you in advance....
